The largest and strongest roll shutter Talius has ever released — engineered for openings that exceed every other profile. 29.5 ft wide. 16.4 ft tall. 484 ft² of coverage. The ultimate garage door alternative.
Standard roll shutters have size limits. A 16-foot-wide garage door pushes the maximum of most heavy-duty profiles. An 18-foot-wide commercial bay door exceeds it entirely. A loading dock or warehouse opening requires both width and height that standard profiles cannot provide.
Mammoth solves this problem. It is Talius’ largest and strongest roll shutter profile ever released, engineered specifically for oversized openings where nothing else fits.
For B2B partners — dealers, specifiers and contractors — offering Mammoth lets you say “yes” to projects other suppliers cannot handle. It is the ultimate garage door alternative, combining security, space savings and sleek design in a single, massive profile.
Talius manufactures Mammoth in North America, using roll-formed aluminum with a high-density polyurethane foam core (300 kg/m³).
Roll-formed aluminum with a 95 mm (3.7″) cover height and 25 mm nominal thickness.
Polyurethane foam with 300 kg/m³ density — significantly higher than standard profiles.
Two-part housing that contains the rolled curtain and shaft. Size determined by unit dimensions.
Heavy-duty rails sized specifically for the Mammoth profile (type confirmed by Talius per project).
Additional system for enhanced storm and wind protection in exposed locations.
Motorized only — manual operation is not feasible given the curtain size and weight.
How it works: The curtain rolls up into the panel box when open and descends within the guide rails when closed. The 95 mm slat height and 25 mm thickness provide structural integrity for massive spans. The high-density foam core delivers exceptional insulation. This design makes Mammoth ideal for garage doors, warehouse openings, industrial bay doors, and any oversized opening that exceeds the capabilities of AG-77 (max width 21.3 ft).
These dimensions are maximums. The actual width, height and area of a Mammoth unit must all be within these limits. No single dimension may exceed its maximum, and the product of width × height must not exceed 45 m².
| Profile | Max Width | Max Height | Max Area | Core Density | Best For |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| HQ Macro | 11 ft (3.35 m) | 9 ft (2.74 m) | 80 ft² | Standard foam | Solar protection, light duty |
| SHIELD Mini | 14 ft (4.27 m) | 10 ft (3.05 m) | 100 ft² | Hard foam | Vandalism, medium duty |
| SAFE Mini | 16 ft (4.88 m) | 13 ft (3.96 m) | 140 ft² | Hard resin | High security, heavy duty |
| AG-77 | 21.3 ft (6.5 m) | 16.4 ft (5.0 m) | 215 ft² | Hard foam | Large openings, medium duty |
| Mammoth | 29.5 ft (9.0 m) | 16.4 ft (5.0 m) | 484 ft² (45 m²) | 300 kg/m³ | Oversized openings, max strength |
Key takeaway — Mammoth is not just slightly larger than AG-77. It is significantly larger in width (29.5 ft vs. 21.3 ft) and area (484 ft² vs. 215 ft²). For any opening wider than 21 feet, Mammoth is the only Talius solution.
Garage Doors & Entryways
Residential and commercial garage doors are the primary application for Mammoth. Standard garage doors are 8 to 18 feet wide. AG-77 tops out at 21.3 feet. For a two-car garage with a single 18-foot door, AG-77 works. For a three-car garage with a 24-foot door, AG-77 does not.
Mammoth spans up to 29.5 feet (9 meters) — covering three-car residential garages, commercial garage bays, RV garages and storage, boat storage facilities, and equipment sheds.
Oversized Windows & Doors
Floor-to-ceiling windows, commercial storefronts and atrium openings often exceed 21 feet in width. AG-77 cannot cover them. Sectional doors are not designed for window openings.
Industrial & Warehouse
Loading docks, warehouse bay doors and industrial equipment enclosures require large spans. Traditional rolling steel doors are heavy, slow and expensive. Mammoth offers an alternative.
Standard Talius roll shutters use polyurethane foam with densities appropriate for their application. Mammoth uses 300 kg/m³ density foam — significantly higher than any other Talius profile.
For commercial security shutters on large openings, this higher density is essential. The curtain must support its own weight across 29 feet without bowing or binding in the guides.
Greater compressive strength (resists denting)
Improved R-value per inch
Reduces sagging across wide spans
Longer service life under heavy use
The Mammoth profile has an optional additional end-retention system for enhanced storm and wind protection.
Contact the Talius Channel Sales team for specific wind-load ratings and end-retention requirements for your project.
• Increased resistance to positive and negative wind forces
• Better curtain retention in the guide rails during high winds
• Suitable for hurricane-prone regions and exposed locations
• Coastal installations subject to hurricane-force winds
• Freestanding applications (no wall behind the shutter)
• Buildings in tornado-prone areas
• Any location where wind load exceeds standard engineering limits
These dimensions are maximums. The actual width, height and area of a Mammoth unit must all be within these limits. No single dimension may exceed its maximum, and the product of width × height must not exceed 45 m².
Given the massive size and weight of a Mammoth curtain, manual operation is not feasible. All Mammoth units are motorized.
• High-torque tubular motors (model determined by width & weight)
• Standard limit motors (hard-wired, mechanical limits, thermal overload)
• Somfy RTS motors (radio frequency, electronic limits, programmable)
If a client is not ready for motorization but may want it in the future, the Motor Preparation Package can be specified. It installs all necessary components except the motor, making future conversion simple.
• Wall switches (maintained or momentary contact)
• Handheld transmitters
• Smart device integration (Somfy TaHoma)
• Building automation system integration
Proper specification prevents callbacks. Critical points for Mammoth:
A 29-foot-wide curtain weighing hundreds of pounds requires substantial wall mounting. Anchor into structural steel, reinforced concrete, or heavy-gauge masonry. Drywall, hollow block or light framing is not sufficient.
The roll-up diameter for Mammoth is larger than any other Talius profile. Minimum roll-up diameter is 100 mm, but the actual panel box is significantly larger. Confirm headroom before quoting.
Do not assume a standard motor will operate a Mammoth unit. The Channel Sales team will calculate required torque based on exact width, height and area.
Mammoth units are large and heavy. Shipping may require specialized carriers. Ensure the delivery site has adequate access and unloading equipment.
Mammoth is not available as a split multiple-section unit. It is a single span product only.
For over 40 years, Talius has manufactured exterior protection systems in North America. Their Salmon Arm, BC facility handles roll-forming, assembly and quality control under one roof. When you specify Talius, you are not buying a generic imported shutter — you are buying an engineered system backed by a manufacturer that understands North American building codes, weather conditions and installation practices.
